WTL were approached by GallifordTry to construct from scratch three concrete access stairways to an existing railway embankment on the Midland Main Line work was started in April 2019 and was completed around June 2020.

The staircase construction would be to enable access to a new flyover bridge for maintenance and for trackside operatives to climb from the cess back to the top of the embankment in safety. The bank was first graded using JCB excavators and then the set out in sections with concrete poured landings built to keep the elevation correct, each section was built up using engineering brick on edge steps laid with concrete 500 x 500 pavers. The job was finished to a very high specification with preformed galvanised key clamp handrail installed from top to bottom.
